South Korea, the world's leading manufacturer of smartphones, has sent invitations to the Tuesday event "Samsung Unpacked 5" to be held on February 24th at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
According to analysts, the launch has been suggested due to weaker than expected sales of S4. Samsung expects its lowest annual profit growth in the mobile division in seven years.
It must also reckon with a slowdown in growth in the premium segment which reaches saturation in many markets.
Biometrics :
The S5 should offer a larger screen, improved and biometrics such as eye recognition camera. It may also be accompanied by an enhanced version of the Galaxy shows connected Gear.
Apple launches for its part this year large screen smartphones, a stronghold of the South Korean giant. The giant apple should also gain market share in China, where its smartphones since January are also distributed by China Mobile, the world's largest mobile operator by number of subscribers.
