Sega mascot Sonic revamps.

 


   Japanese Sega group will give a youthful look to the blue hedgehog Sonic, its mascot for 22 years, with a new universe declined several media including video game, he announced on Thursday.

" Sonic Boom is not just a video game. This is a new branch in the Sonic universe which also includes an animated series'', said David Corless , director of Sonic Sega brand .

Visually, the appearance of the famous blue hedgehog changes slightly : a few extra spikes on the back and a scarf tied around the neck and help give him an adventurer side. His associates have also been alterations, to emphasize traits of their character.

" We wanted the characters to be immediately recognized as part of the universe 'Sonic Boom' ," said David Corless to justify these changes.

140 million copies sold :

Sonic is one of the most popular video game characters , with more than 140 million copies of his various appearances . " Sonic Boom " , however, will be released on consoles, Nintendo 3DS and WiiU , under an agreement between the two groups in Japan on May 2013.

An animated series , 52 episodes of 11 minutes, will be released in France on Gulli chain in the season 2014/2015 . It will be co-produced by French studio, OuiDO ! Productions.
